Most defense directories list the same primes everyone already knows. Vigla Signal is built the other way around. It maps 8,074 defense and dual-use companies and ranks them by how hard they are to find, so the 3,022 under-the-radar builders most lists miss are the ones you see first.
Every company is grounded in its own public footprint. Primary sources include the U.S. DoD SBIR and STTR award record, allied and regional accelerators and innovation units (NATO DIANA, national defense programs across the Baltics, Nordics, Poland, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Japan, India, Israel, and the UK), and curated open web sources. No classified or non-public data is used.
Each company gets an obscurity score from its public signal. A single early-stage award, a thin web presence, or a non-English home market pushes a company up the discovery ranking. A household name pushes it down. Companies that have actually been fielded in real combat carry a separate combat-tested flag, verified against evidence.
Every company carries a structured dossier. One example from the platform:
Advanced sensing that defeats modern camouflage and deception tactics.
Members see the full dossier — technologies, maturity, discovery signal, and how to reach the company.
Candidates are checked for genuine defense or dual-use relevance, deduplicated across sources, and tagged with provenance. Machine-generated summaries are treated as estimates and cross-checked against the company's own material. Where a fact is not in a source, we leave it blank rather than guess.
It is not a procurement system of record and not a substitute for diligence. It is a research and networking tool for finding companies you would not have found on your own. Introductions are made selectively and with consent.
